The International Conference on Future Networks and Distributed Systems (ICFNDS 2018)

The 2018 International Conference on Future Networks and Distributed Systems (ICFNDS 2018) aims at addressing advances in research on distributed systems and future networks, covering topics ranging from enabling technologies to emerging applications and industrial experiences. ICFNDS aims to encourage both researchers and practitioners to exchange and share their experiences and recent studies in an interactive atmosphere. Authors are solicited to contribute original, unpublished contributions in all aspects of future networking and distributed systems. Submitted articles must not be concurrently considered elsewhere for publication. The ICFNDS 2018 proceedings will be published as part of the International Conference Proceedings Series published by the ACM and available online from the ACM Digital Library. The International Workshop on Smart Technologies (WOSTech)

The international Workshop on Smart Technologies is going to be held on 26 - 27 June, 2018 in Amman, Jordan.  The motive of Workshop on Smart Technologies (WOSTech) is to bring together computer scientists, researchers, engineers, and people from industry to exploit the world in a best possible way for mankind through smart technologies. WOSTech in conjunction with ICFNDS 2018 has the current focus on Software Defined Networking and Technology transfer towards smart global village. SDN; A game changer technology having an important transformational force, is at the forefront and going to become the backbone of application economy. It provides support on the dynamic, scalable computing and storage needs of current complex digital networks and allows adaptive control and operations of networks in a cost-effective manner. On the other hand, Internet of Things (IoT) on the rise is a mass-media hot topic and is very enthusiastic to transform the Global Village into Smart Global Village. IP-enabled devices, Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communication, Cloud Computing, Big Data, RFID, White Space TV Spectrum, iPhone Apps and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are the most highlighted actors of IoT. These represent a compelling opportunity across a staggering array of applications covering homes, warehouses, offices, hospitals, factories, metro infrastructure, agriculture and transportation to make life easier, safer, and greener for millions of people in this smart global village.

The emphasis here is to present smart solutions that address the recent emerging trends in Softwae Defined Networking and actors in Technology transfer towards smart global village, and associated challenges to meet with underlying requirements. We are also welcoming the topics of mostly theoretical nature, provided they give a clear practical potential in applying the results of such work. Paper Submission

  • Make sure to read the detailed author guidelines BEFORE you create your submission.
  • Paper (6 - 9 pages including references) submissions should be written in English and submitted through the online submission system and strictly adhering to the specified format to be considered for reviewing and publication.
  • Authors wishing to present a poster and/or demo may submit a 1 to 2 page extended abstract, which, if accepted, will appear in the ICFNDS 2018 conference  proceedings.
  • The current ACM proceedings templates in Word and LaTeX formats can be downloaded from here.
  • The TPC chairs may immediately reject submissions that violate the formatting requirements.
  • The submission system can report some formatting violations in papers that you upload. You can also visually inspect a page-by-page report of your paper format using this online tool.
  • Each paper must deal with original and unpublished work, not submitted for publication elsewhere (copyright problems fall entirely under responsibility of the authors).
  • Each paper will be reviewed by at least three experts in the relevant field based on its originality, timeliness, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation. ensuring the publication of only top quality contributions. When a paper is accepted at least one of the authors has to register to the conference and deliver the related talk.
  • The contact author will receive an email from ACM Rightsreview (rightsreview@acm.org) with a link to the electronic ACM copyright-permission form(s) to be completed. Upon completing the electronic form, you will receive a confirmation email. Contained within the confirmation email will be the ACM copyright-permission block text, conference data, and DOI string/url specific for your submission and mandatory to appear on the first page of your paper.

Damla Turgut


Project Manager - Crazyegg

Damla Turgut is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science at University of Central Florida. She received her BS, MS, and PhD degrees from the Computer Science and Engineering Department of University of Texas at Arlington. Her research interests include wireless ad hoc, sensor, underwater and vehicular networks, cloud computing as well as considerations of privacy in the Internet of Things. She is also interested in applying big data techniques for improving STEM education for women and minorities. Her recent honors and awards include University Excellence Award in Professional Service in April 2017 and being featured in the UCF Women Making History series in March 2015. She was co-recipient of the Best Paper Award at the IEEE ICC 2013. Dr. Turgut serves as a member of the editorial board and of the technical program committee of ACM and IEEE journals and International conferences. MUHAMMAD IMRAN


He is working as Assistant Professor in the College of Computer and Information Sciences, King Saud University (KSU) since 2011. He worked as a Postdoctoral Associate on joint research projects between KSU and University of Sydney, Australia. He is a Visiting Scientist with Iowa State University, USA. His research interest includes mobile ad hoc and sensor networks, WBANs, M2M, IoT, SDN, fault tolerant computing and Security and privacy. He has published number of research papers in refereed international conferences and journals. His research is financially supported by several grants. Recently, European Alliance for Innovation (EAI) has appointed him as an Editor in Chief for EAI Transactions on Pervasive Health and Technology. He also serves as an associate editor for IEEE Access, IEEE Communications Magazine, Wireless Communication and Mobile Computing Journal (SCIE, Wiley), Ad Hoc & Sensor Wireless Networks Journal (SCIE), IET Wireless Sensor Systems, International Journal of Autonomous and Adaptive Communication Systems (Inderscience) and International Journal of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering. He served/serving as a guest editor for IEEE Communications Magazine (SCIE), Computer Networks (SCIE, Elsevier), Future Generation Computer Systems (Elsevier), MDPI Sensors (SCIE), International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks (SCIE, Hindawi), Journal of Internet Technology (SCIE), and International Journal of Autonomous and Adaptive Communications Systems. SOHAIL JABBAR


He is a Post-Doctorate Fellow at Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea. He has been Assistant Professor with the Department of Computer Science, COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), Sahiwal and also headed Networks and Communication Research Group at CIIT, Sahiwal. He received many awards and honors from Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Bahria University, CIIT, and the Korean Government. He received the Research Productivity Award from CIIT in 2014 and 2015. He has been engaged in many National and International Level Projects. His research work is published in various renowned journals and magazines of IEEE, Springer, Elsevier, MDPI, Old City Publication and Hindawi, and conference proceedings of IEEE, ACM, and IAENG. He has been the reviewer for leading journals (ACM TOSN, JoS, MTAP, AHSWN, ATECS, among many) and conferences (C-CODE 2017, ACM SAC 2016, ICACT 2016, among others). He is currently engaged as TPC memberchair in many conferences. He is guest editor of Sis in Future Generation Computer Systems (Elsevier), Peer-to-Peer Networking and Applications (Springer), Journal of Information and Processing System (KIPS), Cyber Physical System (Taylor & Francis). His research interests include Internet of Things, Wireless Sensor Networks and Software Defined Networking.

SYED HASSAN AHMAD


He received his B.S in Computer Science from Kohat University of Science and Technology, Pakistan. Later, he joined School of Computer Science and Engineering, Kyungpook National University, Korea, where he completed his Masters combined Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at the Monet Lab. In 2015, he has been a visiting researcher at the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA. Since 2012, he has published over 60 International Journal and Conference papers in the field of wireless communications. Along with several book chapters, he also authored 2 Springer brief books. For the three consecutive years, 2014-2016, he won the Best Research Contributor award in the workshop on Future Researches of Computer Science and Engineering, KNU, South Korea. In 2016, he also won the Qualcomm Innovation Award at KNU, South Korea. Moreover, he is the recipient of IEEE and ACM Travel Grants for prestigious conferences like IEEE CCNC 2016, ACM ICN 2016, and ACM SAC 2017. He is an active IEEE/ACM member and serving several reputed conferences/journals as a TPC and Reviewer respectively. His research interests include Wireless Sensors and Ad hoc Networks, Cyber-Physical Systems, Vehicular Communications, and Future Internet.
